Today’s You Oughta Know…The La Pena 2nd Skin Mural Project
We wanna give big ups to our friends at the Trust Your Struggle Artist Collective for their most recent project with the La Peña Cultural Center across the bay in Berkeley. They’ve aimed to match money from the East Bay Community Fund for Artists and raise $17,000 in order to paint a “2nd skin” mural over the iconic original. This new piece will be painted by the TYS collective in consultation with the original artists of the first La Peña mural, which is now past repair.
Local artists, historic landmarks, and publicly funded murals all rolled into one cause? Hell yes we’re gonna spread the word. And you should too.
